Coaching
While a mentoring relationship is usually long-term and on-going, coaching can be very targeted and could be used when
- A promising new hire is not quite up to snuff yet.
- Current staff members need occasional assistance with specific skills.
- Budgetary constraints prevent you from hiring additional staff to accommodate a maturing program and existing staff must step up.
Deliverables
- Identification of the skills needed.
- A workable plan for coaching developed with the supervisor.
- Milestones and benchmarks for appropriate progress.
- One-on-one coaching sessions.
Brain-storming
At times, all you need is a sounding board and/or someone with whom you
can ruminate out loud. Brief one-on-one or small group sessions can be
highly productive, focused and invigorating.
This service is particularly
useful for smaller non-profits that may not have
the resources of universities, hospitals
or organizations with larger numbers of fundraising
and affiliated members.
Sample Deliverables
- Clarification of a problem, idea or strategy.
- Additional information or perspective.
- Other options to consider.
- Identification of next steps.
- Helping you get beyond an impasse.
Add-on: Schedule two, three or more throughout
the year as group problem-solving sessions or part of a retreat.
